STATEMENT

I want to work on roles that are exciting, and fulfilling. I am very open-minded to the roles I am willing to play. If the story is good, and the character has a richness, then I am the person to embody them. Energetically, and mannerism wise, I am flexible.
I'm very persistent and focused. I take what I do seriously, but myself lightly. I consistently practice meditation and yoga. I do a large variety of activities from being a Pageant Queen to bushcraft (survivalist camping). I have worked as a swimsuit model, and in the past, I have worked at The Home Depot too! I enjoy gaming (i.e. World of Warcraft), adventure (i.e. traveled the country in an RV), and self-development (i.e. learning from books like Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill). Overall, I want to be working consistently, and solely as an actress, VO artist, commercial, and lifestyle model.
I went to grade school in Southern Maryland, about 45 min outside of Washington, DC. I graduated from the same high school as the members of the band Good Charlotte. As a youth, I consistently performed as a child model, tap dancer, jazz dancer, and ballet dancer. I served as a girl scout, as well. During this time I began playing the classical clarinet. Additionally, with clarinet, I performed in the marching band for several years during my teenage years.
Before studying for my BFA in Acting at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, my lawyer/professor mother, and my accountant father sent me to the gifted, and talented program at Johns Hopkins University for the advanced study of mathematics, and science.
From there, I was sent to Capitol Hill by the Colonial Dames Society. I attended American University for an immersive program focused on the political process in Washington, DC. While there, I received one on one advising from political leaders like House Representative Steny Hoyer and Senator Barbara Mikulski. I received exclusive access to the Supreme Court, as well as, several embassies.
After this, I lived in Shanghai, China to study Mandarin Chinese. While growing up, I was around Cantonese speaking people on my father's side of the family, in the heart of Chinatown, NYC. Also, I studied Spanish in school for 5 years, and I've self-taught Russian for a year.
I believe these experiences give me an air of political seriousness while balancing my gentle heart. I am a softy, who knows who she is. To me, this means that I have the potential to be able to corner the market for my unique type, skill set, and look, as well as, have the mental prowess to capitalize on any opportunities that may arise. Other multi-ethnic Afro-Asians (Blasians) in the entertainment industry like Naomi Campbell, Ne-Yo, Kelis, Amerie, Sean Paul, Rae Dawn Chong, Cassie, Chanel Iman, Kimora Lee Simons, and Tyson Beckford seem to do well in the world market since we are not explicitly stereotyped by society.
In comedy, I think I play the 'straight man' well. I'm pretty sarcastic, so, my serious demeanor is perceived as funny. I have a dark sense/perspective on things sometimes. I think those aspects come out very clearly in my acting or improv. I've made people, literally, pee their pants with my sardonic nature. Also, I love working on emotionally challenging roles, and I am comfortable with exploring all aspects of human nature. Additionally, I am a very physically active person so, roles that require physically demanding work are extremely enjoyable for me as well. I am always looking to learn something new.
